DANTE'S PEAK

(1997)

One of two volcano-themed movies released in 1997. "Dantes Peak" was the first (and considered best) "Volcano" was released 2 months later.  The story concerns the efforts of a USGS scientist to convince the township of Dantes Peak  that the volcano that looms over the town, is in danger of blowing. The town is in the process of receiving the distinction of "Best Place To Live In America", and dont want to hear it(Pompeii, anyone??). Several deaths and tremors later, the town folk start to believe in scientist Harrys threats of doom. During a town meeting to discuss whats next, Mother Nature takes hold, and its a race to see who will get out of town before the volcano blows its top.   Released in February of 1997.
