One of the first movies to show the actual effects of a nuclear blast. The filmakers chose to set it in and around Lawrence, Kansas, being approximately in the center of the USA. The film shows the lives of numerous people before, during & after a Soviet missile atttack. The TV movie was groundbreaking for its time. After the attack sequence, the movie was shown "commercial free", and a crisis hotline was set up to aid anyone frightened by the film. Even if the effects aren't up to todays standards, the story still packs a punch. |
