Starring Charles Boyer and Jean Arthur, the story concerns the love triangle between Irene Vail (Arthur), lowly French waiter Paul Dumond (Boyer) and Irenes tyrannical husband, ship magnate Bruce (Colin Clive). When Irene leaves Bruce for Paul, Bruce turns to outright murder to frame Paul, hoping that Irene will come back to him. When Bruce kills his chauffer hoping to implicate Paul, the police arrest an innocent man. Paul and Irene decide to return to America from France to set things right. They start home on Bruce's newest and greatest ship, The Princess Irene. When Bruce learns that the couple is onboard, he radios the Captain and orders him to proceed full speed ahead into the fog enshrouded, ice infested waters...... |
