"PROM NIGHT!! Everything is all right....."
Prom Night shares a common bond with films like "Somewhere In Time", "Xanadu" & "The Bodyguard": The soundtrack is slightly more popular than the movie it came from. The songs were written by Paul Zaza, Carl Zittrer & Peter Simpson. The company credited for providing the main source of music is Brian Pombiere Productions. "Highstreet" was a blues/rock group that was managed by Mr. Pombiere. They provided some of the rock songs heard in the background, like "I Want A Van", which is the song playing in Slicks van when he ends up going over the bluff. Who sang the disco songs and there origins are somewhat of a mystery. Although never released in the US, an official soundtrack was released as an LP in 1980 in Japan (and maybe Canada) There are 10 songs, and 6 are heard in the film. The others are a mystery...some are slower, possibly for a deleted scene of Kim and Nick's second dance solo..Yes..according to the script, it looks like there was supposed to be two dance numbers, possibly the one filmed cut into two parts. Whatever the odd tracks are, it is the ones heard in the film that drive certain fans wild. "Fade To Black" was sung by one Gordene Simpson-since it was produced by Don and Peter Simpson, and son Brock played Young Nick-could it be another family member singing the end title song? The song called "Prom Night 2" is the one Nick and Kim perform their show-stopping strut to, though for the album, it has been altered slightly. Paul Zaza has said recently that with all the inquiry's he gets, he is planning on releasing a legitimate CD of the Prom Night soundtrack! Here are the tracks:
1) All is Gone (Performed by Blue Bazar) 2) Prom Night 3) Changes 4) Dancing In The Moonlight 5) Fade To Black (Vocal: Gordene Simpson) 6) All Is Gone (Blue Bazar/Instrumental) 7) Time To Turn Around 8) Love Me Till I Die 9) Prom Night 2 10) Forever (Performed by Blue Bazar)
