| The DVD of the 1978 version is claimed to be widescreen/letterboxed. Beware that the image is matted on one side, favoring the top, and the "open" side is actually a zoomed in version of the matted version. The only version that captured the image as it should be is the old VHS and the Laserdisc. The second release on Laserdisc & DVD were also matted. Some feel that the bottom is matted over to cover up Elizabeths nude scene. The best version of this movie is the first Laserdisc version. Its clear and the sound mix is great-of course its now years old and out of print-EBAY! BTW-No, there arent any microphones, cables etc visible in the open print. |
