| AIRPORT '77 - THE LONGER VERSION |
| When "Airport 77" was shown on TV, almost 75 minutes of footage was added. Mostly it was trims from existing scenes, but there were a handful of completely new scenes. |
| The Opening |
| I have heard the new opening was actually shot specifically for the TV version. It shows the 2 main hijackers breaking into a top secret facility to steal the gas that knocks everyone out. The opening titles are still underscored by the main theme. It sounds totally out of place against shots of a van driving around in the night! |

| In between the scenes with the hijackers is a scene of flight attendants training for a fire and scenes of Patroni and Anne talking about her new assignment. They go over to a flight simulator to see Gallagher. |

| We are reintroduced to Joe Patroni, Jr. He was last seen on Columbia 409. One minute long deleted bit was when its confirmed the navigator is indeed dead. They should have left it in, as the freak out of Lisa Stevens seems a bit strange on its own in the theatrical version. |

| We are shown Lisa thinking back to her estrangement from her father. The 2 Joe's have a heart to heart after learning of the crash. Joe Jr. is upset that his dad wont see him graduate. |

| Just before Steve dies, Julie remembers their celebration of his getting the singing gig on the Stevens flight. Bonnie's mom thinks back to her reservations about flying to Palm Beach. Her husband calms her fears. |

| Karen Wallace thinks back on happier times as Martin prepares to swim to the surface. One quick clip shows his body floating out of the plane. |

| The strangest addition is what one would assume would have been left out of a TV presentation. The mangled body of Banker. In the theatrical version its fairly obvious that something was cut as Jack Lemmon looks down, and the scene cuts with a noticeable jump in the score. |
