FILMING  LOCATIONS
BOSTON MEMORIAL HOSPITAL
THE JEFFERSON INSTITUTE
CAPE COD WEEKEND
In June of 1977, the cast and crew of "Coma' came to Boston for 8 days of location shooting. For the exterior of the "Boston Memorial Hospital", Michael Crichton chose the  Boston City Hospital, which gained world-wide attention when it introduced cutting edge treatments for burn victims, following the infamous fire at the Boston nightclub, The Cocoanut Grove.
For Susan and Marks weekend getaway, scenes were filmed in Marblehead, Rockport and Cranes Beach.
The hotel Susan hides out at is the Holiday Inn located at 5 Blossom Street.
By far the most interesting location was "The Jefferson Institute". In the book, its supposed to be in the city, but for the film it was moved into the suburbs. The location used was the then headquarters for "Xerox" in Lexington at 191 Spring Street.
Various other shots were the backroads leading to "Jefferson" and a MBTA stop on the Red Line.
