| First shown on NBC in November of 2005, this Made for TV re-imagining of Paul Gallicos book tanked in the ratings and disappointed all fans hoping for a modern take on the classic survival tale. Instead of a tidal wave capsizing the ship, this time out the Poseidon is besieged by a band of terrorists who explode bombs that flood, and capsize the ship. While the first movie created a sense of claustrophobia by focusing solely on the survivors quest, this version continually cuts away to the efforts of the Navy to locate the ship and look for survivors. Mistake. A slightly longer version was released on DVD-which adds a bit more details from the book. |
