| The most intriguing location used in "Coma" was the secret medical facility "The Jefferson Institute". In the book it was located at 1800 South Weymouth Street in South Boston (there is no South Weymouth Street in Boston). In the film they refer to it as a "Chronic - care facility in the suburbs". While the suburb is never actually named, it is actually located in Lexington, Ma. When the movie was filmed in 1977, the facilty was owned by Xerox. Today, it is owned by Stride Rite Shoes. It got an extensive face lift about 5 years ago. Up until then, it looked the same as it did in the movie. |
